Captained Her Team at Fleming Island High School
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's soccer and head coach Eric Faulconer announce the addition of midfielder Taylor Tamares, the local product out of Fleming Island High School will join the Ospreys as a freshman this fall.Â
Tamares played the majority of her youth career with the United Soccer Alliance in the Girls Academy League. She also has played for Florida Elite ECNL and trains frequently with Coach Mike Pickett at the North Florida Soccer Academy.
Tamares is a first team All-County selection, Florida Times Union All-First Coast team member and high school captain at Fleming Island. She helped the Golden Eagles to district and regional championships in 2020 and 2021. Upon graduation, she will receive the AICE Diploma and is a member of the National Honor Society.
"Taylor is an all-around player who can slot into any role in the midfield seamlessly. She has a high technical level, high game IQ and is very smooth on the ball. Taylor also has the grit to accompany the finesse on the field and she has an insatiable appetite to win! Most importantly though, she's an incredible teammate and one of the most coachable players I've worked with. I am excited to see her thrive at the next level and help UNF accomplish great things!" Wale Leyimu, Former United Soccer Alliance Coach and current JFC ENCL coach.
"Taylor loves playing the game of soccer. She is technical, confident on the ball and super creative. Her creative style of play reminds me in many ways of current Osprey Kayla Bond. Her soccer IQ is very high, and she can solve pressure with both her on and off the ball movement. She is a point producer through creating assists and scoring goals. Most importantly she is a high character individual, and we are very excited to have her join our program." Eric Faulconer, Head Women's Soccer Coach.
