TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Seth Martinez highlighted another great showing for North Florida men's cross country in the team's first and only 10k race of the season, leading his team to a sixth-place team finish at the NCAA South Regional on Friday morning.

The junior shined once again in the postseason for UNF with a time of 30:28.6 to etch his name in the top 10 of the program's best 10k times. His placement of 14th overall in the field also earned Martinez All-South Region honors for the first time in his career.

The Ospreys completed their season with four runners in the top 34 and five runners in the top 45. The team finished in sixth overall, which placed ahead of some of the top programs in the nation, such as Georgia Tech, Florida and Georgia.

FINISH LINE

• Martinez recorded the eighth-best 10k time in program history with his 14th individual finish at 30:28.6.
• Robert Pedroza was right behind the junior in his final collegiate XC race in 31st overall at 30:58.4.
• Ilias El Khattabi and Onix Ortiz Vazquez joined Pedroza in a pack placement in 32nd and 34th overall.
• Cole Perry rounded out the scoring Ospreys inside the top 45 overall with a time of 31:15.6.
• Paul Lespasio and Sebastian Hernandez also competed well for UNF, as Lespasio placed just outside the top 80.
• UNF finished ahead of ASUN foe, Lipscomb, as well as multiple Power Four schools, including Georgia Tech, Florida, Georgia, Vanderbilt and Miami.

PIGG'S POINTS

"On the men's side, it was really good. We've got a pretty veteran team and it was cool to see those veterans stepping up. The No. 1 runner for us was Seth [Martinez], which was really nice to see a guy that's not graduating involved. He did a great job to lead us individually and be the top ASUN finisher as well. The older guys that were up there did a pretty good job, as both Robert [Pedroza] and Onix [Ortiz Vazquez] performed really well. We finished sixth and we beat some really good teams and ran well against them. That's one of the best regional meets we've ever had, if not the best. Seth will be all-region, which is a big honor as we haven't had many of those in our program. Very proud of the effort out of our guys, as they competed well. We look forward to track season up next for us, so should be good."
