Combined for 30 Points, 17 Rebounds During Opening Week
JACKSONVILLE - Jasmynne Gibson made her presence known in the first games of her collegiate career, as she reels in her first career ASUN Freshman of the Week award, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
"I am thrilled for Jasmynne [Gibson]Â to lead off the season with this award! She arrived on campus this summer with a level of competitiveness that is rare for freshmen," said head coach Erika Lambert. "Instead of just trying to keep up, every week she works harder to win, learn Xs & Os, and be the most vocal. Gibby has really elevated our team's level of play and will continue to be an impact player on both ends of the floor."
This is the fifth Osprey to receive weekly freshman honors from the conference, as well as the seventh overall award given to a UNF freshman. It is also the second consecutive time that an Osprey has won the distinction in the debut week of the season, as Alexa Washington earned the award in 2023.
Gibson played all three games with two starts and put up 30 points and 17 rebounds in her performances. She recorded 16 points and nine rebounds against Trinity Baptist, followed by 12 points and eight boards against Georgia Southern to near a pair of double-doubles.
Gibson and the Ospreys returns on the road to face Florida Atlantic on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m., to face Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla.
