Volleyball Starts Second Half of League Play

UNF Goes to Bellarmine, EKU

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida volleyball begins a crucial stretch of conference competition tomorrow in Kentucky as the Ospreys begin a two-match road swing against Bellarmine and Eastern Kentucky.

North Florida volleyball completed a three-match home stand by sweeping Florida A&M (17-6) thanks to 11 aces and overall all-round play, snapping FAMU's 10-match winning streak.

Anna Butler paced UNF with a season-high 15 kills, hitting .429 in the effort. Janelly Ceopa went for a career-high 14 digs and three different players posted multiple aces.

Nearing on 100
Head coach Kristen Wright is two wins shy of 100 for her North Florida career entering Friday's match. Wright and the Ospreys have won four of their last five this season and are entering into league play in position to make the league tournament.

Career Days
North Florida has used some career highs to breakthrough in the past two matches … against Austin Peay North Florida posted four career highs. Janelly Ceopa notched a career-best 13 kills, Mya Sopata went for a game and career-best 14 kills and Maymie Guthrie and Emma Pohlmann both nabbed career-best efforts with 25 and 18 digs respectively. Annie Antar nearly notched another double-double, posting 50 assists, nine digs, four kills and a career-best four aces. Ceopa followed that up with a career-best 14 digs against FAMU.

Series History
Bellarmine: North Florida is 2-1 against Bellarmine since the Knights joined the league in 2021 … UNF defeated Bellarmine 3-0 in the last meeting in Kentucky back in 2022.
Eastern Kentucky: The Ospreys are 4-1 against EKU … this is just the second time UNF takes on EKU in Richmond … UNF took both meetings against EKU a year ago.

Scouting the Opponents
Bellarmine: Junior setter Kylie Van Hoy was tabbed as ASUN Setter of the Week this past week … she went for a triple-double in the program's win against West Georgia … Bellarmine has five players with over 100 kills on the season … Natalie Bland is second in the league with 3.86 kills/set.

Eastern Kentucky: EKU is on a four-match winning streak, entering play 14-7 and 5-3 in league play … EKU also had a setter with a triple-double in Emilee Hill as she went for one last weekend against Queens … three EKU players rank in the top ten in the league in digs.
