Schell Shines With Five Birdies During Even-Par Round

WILMINGTON, N.C. - North Florida men's golf put together solid performances from its top players to stay in seventh as a squad through two rounds of the Williams Cup hosted by North Carolina on Monday afternoon.

The Ospreys' second day of play was highlighted by sixth-year graduate Brett Schell, who scored five birdies for an even-par round. His five birdies all came within a span of seven holes, in which he also had three straight from the 11th through 13th holes.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

  • Jason Duff regrouped after a tough stretch in the front nine going 1-under over the last eight holes to be even-par 144 combined.
  • He added two birdies to his name to stick among the top eight of the player's leaderboard.
  • Schell used his great performance on the turn and well into the back nine with a 4-over 148 combined score.
  • His five total birdies pushed him right outside the top 25 overall after his even-par day.
  • Both Duff and Schell are at the top of the par-five scoring average board at 4-under after the second round.
  • The duo have all combined for 16 birdies through two rounds, as Schell is fifth with nine total and Duff is 10th with seven total at UNC.
  • Serra started well with a birdie on the first hole and followed it with back-to-back birdies on the back nine to stay among the top 50.
  • The redshirt sophomore remains the team leader and 10th overall in pars with 25 total.
  • Danny Erickson jumped into the top eight of par-five scoring average at 2-under, while Chase Carroll finished off the second round for UNF.
  • The Ospreys remain one of the top contenders in par-five scoring average in fourth at 3-under.
  • UNF finished with 104 total pars and 25 total birdies through 36 holes played.
