JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida volleyball opened up with a dominant first set, but Lipscomb scrapped its way out of a battle in the second set before the Ospreys came up short in four against the Bison Friday, Oct. 18.
The Ospreys (6-15, 3-4 ASUN) posted a season-best 13 aces, with five coming from
Emma Pohlmann in the first match against Lipscomb (9-9, 6-1 ASUN) in Jacksonville since 2021.
Anna Butler also posted a season-high 11 kills in the effort.
UNF 1, Lipscomb 3 (25-18, 25-27, 16-25, 13-25)
- Set1: Both teams traded runs early on in the first set, with North Florida leading 15-13 at the media break … a 5-1 run lifted North Florida to a 17-13 lead, its largest of the set … the run grew to a 10-3 stretch as UNF won the first set.
- Set 2: The trend continued with UNF racing out to an 8-3 lead behind .400 hitting in the early stages of the second set … Lipscomb rebounded to even things up, but UNF went on a 3-0 spurt to regain a 19-16 lead … a service error, Lipscomb attack error and Anna Butler kill gave UNF a 24-21 lead and 3-0 run … the Bison went on a 6-1 run to even things up.
- Set 3: Lipscomb had the early momentum with play on the block, but Ella Bines generated a kill on her first point on the court … Lipscomb stayed ahead to take a 2-1 lead.
- Set 4: A defense heavy fourth set had Lipscomb up 15-12 at the media timeout and stayed ahead late.
