Former Osprey Joins Top Flight of Spanish Women's Soccer
VILLARREAL, Spain - After spending 2022 and 2023Â in the National Women's Soccer League with the Orlando Pride, former Osprey Thais Reiss has been signed by Villarreal CF competing in Liga F, the highest tier of professional women's soccer in Spain, as announced by the team on Wednesday afternoon.
"This is a great opportunity for Thais and I am excited for her," said UNF head coach Eric Faulconer. "She will be competing against some of the top women's clubs in Europe in league play like Barcelona and Real Madrid. This is a great step in her professional career and she continues to make Osprey nation proud."
Â
Reiss made five league appearances, starting two matches and logging 152 minutes for Orlando. She also featured in the 2023 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup appearing in three matches and starting in one playing 90 minutes.
The UNF women's soccer alumna joins Villarreal 13 matches into a 30 match campaign, finding themselves 13th in the Liga F table. Reiss can make her debut in their next match against Sevilla on Saturday, Jan. 20. Liga F matches can be streamed on the DAZN app.Â

The Curitiba, Brazil, native goes down as one of the greatest to put on a North Florida uniform. Reiss scored 42 goals and assisted on 18 more, making the ASUN All-Conference First Team on four occasions while earning 2020 conference player of the year recognition.
The 2017 ASUN Freshman of the Year went on to be named league player of the week five times while also earning five United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region honors. With a flair for the dramatic, Reiss finished first in program history for game-winning goals, which is also good for second in ASUN history.
