UNF takes down EKU, 6-1
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF men's tennis (13-5, 6-1 ASUN) took a big conference win against Eastern Kentucky (4-17, 1-6 ASUN) Thursday afternoon. The Ospreys are now on a three-match winning streak in conference play and 6-1 in league play.
In doubles, the Ospreys started off strong as Andreas Scott and Breno Marques dominated in a 6-0 victory. PJ Kotan and Bruno Vietri finished nearly in unison as they clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 score. The top court was left unfinished at 4-3.
The dominance continued in singles play as Scott earned a 6-2, 6-1 win to give UNF a 2-0 lead. Marques secured a 6-1, 6-0 win on the fifth court to leave the Ospreys just a point shy of clinching the win. Jonas Hartenstein secured the win for UNF at the top court in a 6-2, 6-0 victory. This was Hartenstein's fourth time clinching the win this season. Kotan earned another point for UNF in the fourth position, yet Matt Carroll fell in a ten-point tiebreaker in the second slot. With a 5-1 lead, Vietri secured a 10-7 win in a ten-point tiebreaker to give the Ospreys a 6-1 victory over the Colonels.
The Ospreys face Bellarmine Saturday, April 8 at 1 p.m. at the UNF Tennis Complex in the regular season home finale for Senior Day as Jonas Hartenstein and Matt Carroll are honored.
