Cai Cards 3-Under 69 in Second Round to Sit Top 10

GREENVILLE, N.C. - After a rough start through the first nine, North Florida women's golf rebounded its way to a top-four placement through the first two rounds at the Ironwood Invitational hosted by East Carolina on Monday afternoon.

The Ospreys only had one birdie combined in the front nine of the first round before putting together nine on the back nine for 11-over 299. They put together 17 more birdies on the second round to share the best second round team score at 1-under 287 and move up two spots in fourth overall at 10-over 586.

Jessie Cai led the charge for UNF in the second round with her sixth-career round in the 60s at 3-under 69. She had eight birdies combined, including three straight to finish out her second round of play to share 10th on the player's leaderboard.

Cai went from a 4-over 76 in the first round to 3-under 69 in the second to combine for 1-over 145 and tied for 10th.
The Hamburg, Germany, native was one of two players in the field to shoot a round in the 60s and was the only player to have one in the second round.
She also has the second-best par-five average at 4-under and the third-most birdies in the field at eight total.
Daniela Gonzalez only had two holes worse than par in the second round to jump into the top 15 at 2-over 146.
The graduate sits with the most pars on the team with 27 total, which is third overall among the field.
Sarah Scott is on pace for the best finish of her career, as she is inside the top 20 overall at 3-over 147.
She sits eight behind Cai with a top-five ranking for birdies with seven total in both rounds.
Christin Eisenbeiss has sights set on her eighth top-25 finish of the season with a combined score of 4-over 148 to share 18th heading into the final round.
Eisenbeiss joins Gonzalez with a top-four par-three average at 1-under through two rounds.
Kaitlynn Washburn rounded out the Osprey group on Monday with her combined score of 11-over 155.
The Ospreys are one of three teams in the field to have four players in the top 18 of the player's leaderboard.
UNF currently sits second in par-five average (4-under), third in par-three average (2-over) and fifth in par-four average (23-over).
They also have the second-most birdies at 27 total and the third-most pars at 112 total.
