Ospreys Tally Three Superlative Awards, Nine in Total
ATLANTA - UNF beach volleyball set a program record as the Ospreys tallied up nine different ASUN Postseason accolades including three superlative awards as released by the conference office Thursday, April 20.
All told, UNF brought home three second team all-league pairs, one first team duo, two all-freshman picks and the coach of the year, freshman of the year and scholar-athlete of the year.Â
North Florida earned more all-conference pairs than any other program while nearly sweeping the superlative laurels. UNF is 21-9 this season, having tied the program regular season wins record while setting a record for most home wins in a season.
"It's exciting to have such a young team with so many of our student-athletes being honored by the conference out of our group," head coach Doug Wright said. "It is a testament to this team's work ethic and commitment to getting better each day we are in the sand. Individual and pair accolades are normally the result of team success and all 20 players on our roster have had a role in that this season."
List of UNF Honors
ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year -- Chantel McMillan
ASUN Freshman of the Year -- Madison Espy
ASUN Coach of the Year -- Doug Wright
First Team All-ASUN -- Madison Espy & Presley Murray
Second Team All-ASUN -- Audrey Brooks & Iris Fletcher
Second Team All-ASUN -- Chantel McMillan & Hayden Wooldridge

ASUN Coach of the Year -- Doug Wright
Doug Wright brings home the sixth ASUN Coach of the Year honor in program history after helping guide the Ospreys to a 21-9 mark in his second season at the helm. After joining the staff in a volunteer role in 2018, Wright has continued to have a huge impact on the program, touting a 42-21 mark in regular season play over the last two seasons.Â
North Florida earned three ranked wins, downing No. 17 Stetson, No. 19 Pepperdine and No. 20 Coastal Carolina this season. The Ospreys' 5-0 sweep of Pepperdine was the first sweep against a ranked program in school history.Â
The Ospreys cracked the top 20 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Poll for the fourth time in program history, while also doing so in the College Beach Volleyball poll.
Wright joins his wife, Kristen, who also earned the honor in 2021 during the program's latest championship season.Â
ASUN Freshman of the Year -- Madison Espy
After finishing with a 24-4 record with partner Presley Murray, freshman sensation Madison Espy was named ASUN Freshman of the Year, the first such honoree in program history.Â
Espy's mark is part of the second-best single season winning percentage for a pairing in UNF history. The freshman out of Tampa was named ASUN Pair of the Week back in March during a stretch of 15-straight wins to start her career.
The first-year student-athlete is ranked 64th in the country in the latest MoVR rankings and was 59th in the nation in the National Pablo Pairs rankings with Murray.Â
"It's unusual to have two freshmen that are partners and either in the pair [Presley or Madi] could have been named ASUN Freshman of the Year," Wright said. "Presley and Madi are having an incredible season and were rightfully recognized by the league with first team all-conference honors. Madi has been on a mission since August and she shows up every day focused on improving and it has paid off. She has become one of the best defenders in the conference as a result. Madi brings competitive greatness and she makes those around her better and is truly deserving of this award. I could not be more proud of her."
ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year -- Chantel McMillan
North Florida beach volleyball's Chantel McMillan was named ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year, becoming just the second such honoree in program history after putting forth a 20-8 mark on the sand and a 4.0 grade point average in her master's program.Â
McMillan joins Anna Budinska back in 2014 as the only two Ospreys in program history to earn the honor.
The Wellington, Fla., native touts a perfect GPA in her master's of educational leadership program. She was an ASUN Beach Volleyball Preseason All-Conference pick as well as an ASUN Pair of the Week honoree with Hayden Wooldridge April 5.
The lefty surpassed 60-career wins this season, becoming just the fourth to do that in program history. McMillan is 20-8 this season, 19-6 at the fifth slot and picked up four wins against pairs on ranked teams. One of those victories was a sweep against No. 10 Stanford's fifth pair.
McMillan also served in multiple capacities as a volunteer in the Jacksonville area, helping with beach volleyball camps, indoor volleyball camps and as a game day staffer for Jacksonville Jaguars games.
ASUN First Team All-Conference & All-Freshman Team | Presley Murray & Madison Espy
The lone freshmen to be named to the first team and the only freshmen to be honored on the second team besides teammate Katie Camp, Espy and Murray also took home all-freshman laurels after their 24-4 year.Â
Going 15-0 to start the season, the duo touts the second-best winning percentage among a pairing in program history. Together they have dominated tough teams, going 7-4 against pairs on ranked teams due to wins against No. 12 FAU, No. 15 Stetson, No. 17 Pepperdine, No. 19 Pepperdine, No. 17 Stetson and No. 13 FIU.
They're currently ranked 13th in the country in the Top NCAA Pairs Rankings and have played themselves up to the second slot in the lineup after cruising through the opposition early on.
Additionally, they were also the first freshman pairing in program history to earn ASUN Pair of the Week honors, taking home weekly recognition during their history run in March. Their only losses have come against No. 1 TCU, No. 2 USC, No. 10 Stanford and FGCU.
ASUN Second Team All-Conference | Audrey Brooks & Iris Fletcher
Audrey Brooks and Iris Fletcher gelled as two transfers, picking up 16 wins at the first position, good for the 5th most in a single season at the top slot in UNF history.Â
Together they defeated three ranked duos and won a huge match to even things up in a 3-2 win against No. 17 Stetson. Both are ranked in the top 60 in the national MoVR rankings, touting another top 100 ranking in the NCAA Pablo Pairs.Â
Twice they've gone on three-match winning streaks, while aiding in wins against No. 20 Coastal Carolina, No. 19 Pepperdine and No. 17 Stetson. They nearly knocked off the second pair on No. 2 USC during the tournament in Miami Beach back in March, coming up just short in three frames.Â
ASUN Second Team All-Conference | Katie Camp & Michaela Rezentes
Katie Camp and Michaela Rezentes came up clutch at the third slot this season, factoring into a number of clinches as the duo went 18-8 and 12-5 at the third position.Â
They played all but one match with one another, picking up wins against pairs on ranked teams such as No. 20 Coastal Carolina and No. 19 Pepperdine.Â
Their win total is tied for the fifth-most by a third pair in UNF history as they are ranked No. 15 in the country in the NCAA Pairs Rankings. One of their first clinches came in a 3-2 win against JU during March.
Both Camp and Rezentes continue the trend of successful youth, with Camp playing as a true-freshman and Rezentes as a redshirt-sophomore transfer out of Loyola Marymount.Â
ASUN Second Team All-Conference | Hayden Wooldridge and Chantel McMillan
A no-doubt all-conference pairing, Hayden Wooldridge and Chantel McMillan went 20-7 and locked down the fifth slot as one of the toughest duos at that spot. Their second team all-league honor bookends an impressive season that saw the duo start on the ASUN Preseason All-Conference list.Â
Wooldridge and McMillan played all but three matches with one another, ranking eighth in UNF history for single season wins and winning percentage as a pair.Â
Together they set the UNF record for matches played and winning percentage at the fifth slot, picking up marquee victories against No. 15 Stetson, No. 19 Pepperdine, No. 17 Stetson and No. 10 Stanford.Â

They currently rank 10th in the NCAA Pairs Rankings, with McMillan becoming the fourth Osprey in program history to crack 60 wins. Wooldridge broke the 45-win threshold as well, doing so in just under two full seasons.Â
