Ospreys Defeat Jacksonville State, 6-1
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - UNF men's tennis (11-5, 4-1 ASUN) secured another conference win on the road Friday afternoon as it took care of Jacksonville State (10-9, 2-3 ASUN), 6-1.
The Ospreys started doubles play strong as Rodrigo Crespo and Jonas Hartenstein took a 6-2 win in the top position. Although PJ Kotan and Bruno Vietri fell 6-3 in the second slot, UNF was able to secure the doubles point as Breno Marques and Andreas Scott won, 6-2, at the third court.Â
The momentum did not stop for the Ospreys as Crespo secured a 6-1, 6-2 win in singles play to give North Florida a 2-0 lead. Marques secured the third point for UNF with a 7-5 seven-point tiebreaker in the second set. Kotan clinched the win for the Ospreys after securing a seven-point tiebreaker, 9-7. UNF continued to control singles play as Vietri won a ten-point tiebreaker to give the Ospreys a 5-0 lead over the Gamecocks. Although Scott fell in three sets with a ten-point tiebreaker, Hartenstein secured a three-set win to finalize the 6-1 victory for UNF.Â
UNF will compete in its last road match of the regular seasosn Sunday, April 2 at 11 a.m. ET against North Alabama before returning back to Jacksonville to host the last three matches of the season.Â
