Softball Blanks FAU for Twin Bill Sweep

First Time Sweeping Florida Atlantic in Program History

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball (17-10) got back on track in a big way Wednesday, sweeping a tough FAU (21-12) team with a pair of shutouts.

The Ospreys put up eight runs on 11 hits in just six innings to force a mercy-rule victory in game one. The scoring continued with Chloe Culp and Kayla Harper each coming up with a pair of RBI hits to take the second game, 4-0.

Ashley Connor started both games for UNF and came out with a win and a save, as she extends her lead in the conference for saves with four total. Jolie Gustave also recorded a win in the second doubleheader game to notch her first as an Osprey, as well as her first earned victory in the circle since the 2021 season.

A three-run homer from Abi Annett sparked the Osprey offense on their way to score five more and break their four-game losing streak in six innings.

Behind the Line Score
  • Each team notched a hit in the first inning, but both squads were left stranded in the first inning.
  • Singles from Logan Jackson and Culp were followed up by a three-run home run to left center from Annett to go up by three.
  • Channell ripped a single to left and Kirsten Caravaca was hit by a pitch, setting up Harper's two-RBI double to left center to complete a five-run fifth.
  • North Florida pushed across three more in the sixth to win in it six frames.
  • An RBI single from Culp and two-RBI walk-off single through the left side from Channell finished it off for the Ospreys.

A pair of RBI doubles from Culp ignited another great display of offense for UNF, as Connor, Gustave and Skyler Stockie all saw time in the circle to lock down a second-straight win.

Behind the Line Score
  • Culp kept the offense pumping with an RBI double in the first inning to go up by a run.
  • Harper added another score in the second inning with an hit up the middle to send in Channell.
  • A double steal attempt started by Harper going to second brought home Mackenzie Woods from third to go up by three.
  • Culp repeated with another RBI double that scored Harper to extend the lead to 4-0.
  • Gustave came in the game for a second time on the day and shut down FAU for two consecutive innings.
  • Stockie also entered in relief for both games and held the Owls to two hits and no runs allowed.
  • Connor re-entered the game in the seventh to secure the second shutout win for UNF.
