Ospreys Defeat Georgia Southern, 4-3
STATESBORO, Ga. - North Florida (6-4) women's tennis got tough to take the victory at No. 74 Georgia Southern (7-2), 4-3, Wednesday, March 1. The Ospreys now have an 8-0 record all-time against the Eagles.
In doubles play, Kit Gulihur and Ana Paula Melilo took a 6-2 win at the top slot, followed by Jasmin Makela and Isabel Oliveira taking a 6-4 victory on court two to clinch doubles. Kendall Nash and Megan Forster secured a 6-3 win on the remaining court.
The Ospreys kept the momentum going in singles as Gulihur dominated in a 6-1, 6-0 win at the top slot to give UNF a 2-0 lead. While Melilo and Nash both fell in two sets, the tie score didn't last long as Oliveira secured a point at the fourth slot. With the Ospreys up 3-2, Makela clinched the win for UNF in three sets.
The Ospreys have a quick turnaround as they host South Alabama at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4 at the UNF Tennis Complex.
