Antar Earns ASUN Setter of the Week, Moro Tallies 12th Weekly Honor
ATLANTA - Two Ospreys found themselves on the weekly league honor roll, as North Florida volleyball's Annie Antar and Rocio Moro both tallied weekly laurels as released by the league office Monday, Nov. 6. Antar was named ASUN Setter of the Week for the first time in her career, while Moro was tabbed as ASUN Defensive Player of the Week for a league record 12th time.Â
It's the first time North Florida has had multiple weekly honorees in the same day since a trio of Ospreys were recognized Oct. 24, 2022.
Rocio Moro | Libero | San Juan, P.R. | 12th Defensive Player of the Week
Moro's stats per set were eye-popping once again as she averaged 6.50 digs/set for 39 digs over six frames this past week. The libero anchored North Florida in consecutive sweeps as the Ospreys blanked Jacksonville and Austin Peay.Â
Wednesday she went for 15 digs at JU and followed that up with 24 in a win against Austin Peay to clinch a spot in ASUN postseason play. Moro also added to the offense with 12 assists, dishing out two helpers per session as she surpassed 500 digs for the campaign.Â
Moro has now earned 12 ASUN Defensive Player of the Year awards and two this season. Moro also recently set the North Florida matches played record, reaching 143.Â
Annie Antar | Setter | Klein, Texas | First-Career Honor
For the first time in her career, setter Annie Antar was named ASUN Setter of the Week after an all-round pair of matches. The redshirt-sophomore dished out 10.83 assists/set, tallying 65 assists, 10 kills, 12 digs, three aces and three blocks.Â
Antar helped North Florida to consecutive sweeps as the Ospreys clinched a spot in the ASUN Championship. Twice she went for at least 30 assists, hitting more than .333 on the offensive side of things in both contests. The multi-faceted setter also added 12 digs for 2.00 digs/set in the perfect week.Â
Antar is the first-ever Osprey to be named ASUN Setter of the Week after the award was introduced last season.Â
North Florida stays at home to close out the season with matches against FGCU Friday and Stetson Saturday.
