Men's Golf in Top Five to Open Quail Valley Collegiate

Higgins, Gabrelcik Stand Inside Top 20

VERO BEACH, Fla. - North Florida men's golf had great showings from Robbie Higgins and Nick Gabrelcik as they helped the team to a top-five standing through two rounds at the Quail Valley Collegiate hosted by Michigan State on Sunday afternoon.

UNF had all five Osprey players finish their day under par with Davis Lee joining Higgins and Gabrelcik with at least one round in the 60s. They are currently tied for fifth with Liberty and are in front of several Power Five teams, such as Rutgers, Minnesota and Michigan State.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

  • Higgins was the top scorer in the opening round with seven total pars to help him be 6-under 138 with a share of 14th overall.
  • The senior also had an eagle in the second round to be one of two Ospreys with back-to-back rounds under par.
  • Gabrelcik went for six birdies in the second round to help push him to a 4-under 140 day.
  • He sits tied for 20th overall after rebounding from an even-par opening round to start his week.
  • Duff played consistently as the other Osprey with back-to-back rounds under par to share 27th overall at 3-under 141.
  • He currently leads the entire field in sole possession of having the most pars with 29 total.
  • Carroll had his return to action with a combined 2-under 142 to be a stroke behind Duff tied for 33rd overall.
  • Lee rebounded after a 2-over 74 opening round to score 3-under 69 the next 18 to fight his way into the top 50.
  • Both Higgins and Lee had eight birdies on the day to lead the team through a pair of rounds.
