Men’s Basketball Drops Road Trip Opener at FGCU

FORT MYERS, Fla. - North Florida men's basketball opened up its three-game road stint with a tall task at FGCUÂ (13-4, 3-2 ASUN) as the Ospreys (7-9, 2-2 ASUN) came up on the short end of things in Fort Myers, 82-57, Saturday, Jan. 7. FGCU established a lead early that it didn't let up as the contest wrapped up a stint of four ASUN games in eight days to open up league play, as well as five contests in 10 days for the Ospreys.

- Both teams worked to find their offensive footing early, although the defenses reigned supreme through the first media timeout … Jadyn Parker scored four points off the dribble and Carter Hendricksen drilled a trey as the Ospreys trailed by just one at 8-7 … FGCU would go on a 23-0 run to break things open at the 8:13 mark … Hendricksen and Jose Placer drilled a pair of three-pointers to help slow down the Eagles during an 8-0 run … Placer would finish the first frame with a team-high seven points, but the Ospreys trailed, 47-23, at the intermission.
