Second-Straight Year UNF Women’s Soccer Great Has Earned the Preseason Nod
ORLANDO - A year after breaking into the professional ranks, logging time in five games for the Orlando Pride of the National Women's Soccer League, former UNF women's soccer great Thais Reiss was tabbed to the Pride's preseason roster for the second-straight year as made public by the organization Monday, Jan. 30.
Reiss was a non-roster invitee during training camp last February, earning the chance to train with the team the rest of the season. She would go on to make her professional debut June 12 at Chicago and eventually appear in five games for the NWSL squad.
The Pride began preseason training Monday at the Orlando Health Training Ground, with head coach Seb Hines taking the reigns for his first full season as head coach. The camp squad includes 28 players, 21 of which are under contract for the season.
Reiss, a non-roster invitee, is one of five midfielders on the team. The arduous season begins with a pair of exhibition matches before officially beginning Feb. 25.Â
About Reiss -- UNF Career
A five-year letterwinner in the Navy and Gray, Reiss played in 77 contests, starting 73 while scoring 42 goals and generating 102 points during her tenure.
The Curitiba, Brazil, native was the 2020 ASUN Player of the Year, a four-time First Team All-ASUN selection, one-time Second Team All-ASUN pick and was also ASUN Freshman of the Year in 2017.
Reiss earned United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region honors in all five seasons and picked up five-career ASUN Player of the Week honors.
The midfielder was clutch, finishing first in UNF history and second in the ASUN's history in game-winning goals. She posted the second-most goals in program history and 10th-most in the ASUN.
