Proceeds Go Towards Funding Nutritional Services and Counseling
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida Athletics announces its initiative for 904 Weekend - 2022, with the focus put on fundraising for nutritional services and counseling for UNF student-athletes.
"Fundraising is paramount for our student-athletes here at the University of North Florida," Assistant AD for Sports Performance Brian Bert said. "Obviously, with sports performance, nutrition and recovery being at the forefront of athletics, it's really important for us as a department to be able to provide resources for those areas."
Traditionally known as "904 Day" for Osprey supporters, UNF brands this year's fundraising effort as "904 Weekend" in light of the long weekend in which the day lands on.

>> "For our student-athletes, proper nutrition is essential to their overall development. Working directly with our athletic trainers and strength and conditioning coaches, our team dietician will help plan individual meal plans and provide educational workshops for optimal results and maximum performance."
UNF's "904 Weekend campaign for 2022 will occur between Sept. 1-4 and is initiated by UNF's Osprey Club and development office with the intent to raise money directly for enhancing UNF Athletics's nutritional services. CEM Foundation serves as the presenting partner for this year's "904 Weekend"
"Right now, a big area we are trying to focus on is education and counseling," Associate AD for Sports Performance Fred Burnett said. "We're really lacking in that area and we are really trying to partner with our campus and community through fundraising efforts to give our student-athletes education, opportunities to work on building a healthy lifestyle and resources to fuel their bodies for performance and give them that competitive edge."

The area code 904 covers a five-county region of Northeast Florida, including the counties of Duval, St. Johns, Clay, Nassau and Baker, and is the home for more than 50,000 UNF alumni.
