Women's Soccer Match Preview: MTSU

Season Opener Set for Thursday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's soccer begins the 2022 season at home tomorrow night when it hosts MTSU at 7 p.m. from Hodges Stadium. 

Live stats and streaming will be available via the links listed to the right. The event as well as all home events will not be ticketed and are free of charge for spectators. 

MATCH NOTES

1. Series History
This is the second-ever meeting between these two teams ... the lone meeting was played at Hodges Stadium in 2018 with MTSU winning, 2-0 ... that was also the season opener ... head coach Eric Faulconer was an assistant coach on that team.

2. Scouting Report
MTSU is coming off a 9-8-2 season in which it went 5-3 in Conference USA play ... head coach Aston Rhoden is in his 26th season at MTSU ... sophomore Kirstine Lykke is the lead returning goal scorer for MTSU ... she scored five a year ago.

3. Peruvian Prowess
Ariana Munoz represented Peru in COPA America play this past summer ... she scored a goal in her international debut during a friendly against Mexico in late June ... she started each match of COPA America play.

4. Local Pipeline
Head coach Eric Faulconer and staff continue to do a stellar job keeping talent local ... UNF has 14 Ospreys that are either from Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Fleming Island, St. Johns or Green Cove Springs.

5. Newcomers of Note
UNF brings in 11 newcomers this season, including 10 true freshmen ... the Ospreys welcome a pair of four-year college transfers in graduate transfer Gabby Daly out of Notre Dame and sophomore Sophia Hayag.

SCOUTING REPORT

The Blue Raiders are 1-1 in the preseason, falling to Chattanooga while beating Cumberland, 1-0 … MTSU went 9-8-2 last year and 5-3 in league play … Middle Tennessee was 3-3 in road matches … The Blue Raiders advanced to the second round of C-USA Postseason play before falling to No. 1 ODU, 2-1 … Jacksonville, Fla., native and senior goalkeeper Hannah Suder returns after having posted 80 saves in nearly 1,700 minutes a year ago … MTSU did lose one of the best goal scorers in program history after Peyton DePriest finished up her career last year … head coach Aston Rhoden has won 237 matches in his MTSU career.
