My name is Daniela Gonzalez and I'm going to be a fifth year this fall. I just graduated with a degree in marketing and I will be starting a MS in business analytics. I am from Bogota, Colombia.

How did you first get involved with playing sports?
I started playing golf when I was three years old because my parents and my older sister played and they would take me to their golf lessons with them. Eventually, I got my own set of plastic clubs and grew old and strong enough to get some real ones.

Was there any inspiration or role model that got you playing sports?
Tiger Woods. To hear everybody talking about how good he was and how hard working he was was very inspiring.

How long did you have the dream/goal to play college athletics?
Since I was 12.

How has being a student-athlete impacted your college experience? How has it impacted your personal growth?
Being a student athlete made me experience different things I know I wouldn't have been able to if I did not play golf. Apart from being beyond challenging and time consuming, it has taught me perseverance, patience, hard work and respect.

What does being a student-athlete do for life opportunities?
It has given me the opportunity to build a great social network as well as opened multiple doors for me to follow my dreams.

In your opinion, what needs to be improved to enhance the coverage of women in sports?
Wider coverage and more social media posts regarding day to day activities to wins.

What are your goals after college?
I want to work in Marketing for an environmental science company here in Jacksonville.

What advice would you give to girls in youth sports that are aspiring to be a college athlete/pro athlete or work in athletics?
To work as hard as they can because they will eventually come true. There will be tough times, but if you never give up you'll end up exactly where you need to be.
