Last Time Out
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -
The right-handed pitching duo of Dominick Madonna and Max McKinley spun a combined shutout behind nine strikeouts and just two hits permitted in North Florida baseball's 7-0 victory against Kennesaw State Sunday, May 1.

Crafty Lefty
Left-handed pitcher Peter Holden has been one of UNF's most consistent arms out of the bullpen and in the starting role this season ... Holden had a career day Friday against a tough Kennesaw State team as he pitched a nine-inning complete game shutout, permitting just two hits against the best hitting team in the league based on batting average ... it was the first nine-inning complete game shutout by a North Florida pitcher since Evan Incinelli turned in such a feat May 20, 2015 against Kennesaw State ... it was also the first nine-inning complete game since Nick Marchese April 13, 2019 ... Holden was named ASUN Pitcher of the Week May 2.

Of Note
UNF shut out Kennesaw State twice last weekend, marking the first time North Florida has blanked a team twice in a three-game set since doing so against USC Upstate April of 2010 ... UNF has reached double-digit hits in 20 of 44 games this season ... the Ospreys have five different players hitting over .300 and four with over 50 hits ... Tony Roca pitched one of his best outings of the season last time out against UCF ... the lefty went 7.2 innings, allowing just two earned runs while striking out seven batters ... Grant Grodi is the 33rd toughest batter to fan in the nation ... this is the final non-conference game of the regular season and the final midweek game of the regular season.

Scouting Report | UCF | Schedule | Statistics | Roster
  • UCF is 26-17 and 10-5 in the AAC.
  • The Knights have had to work through the injury bug this season, but they are coming off a pair of big conference-series victories. UCF swept Wichita State on the road and took two of three from Tulane last weekend.
  • Originally a bullpen arm, Ben Vespi dominated in his latest start Friday vs. the Green Wave, earning American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors May 2.
  • Despite missing some starting pitching, UCF still touts a 3.68 team ERA, good for the best mark in the league and 16th in the country.
  • UCF has speed up and down the lineup. As a squad, UCF has swiped 84 bags, the best tally in the conference and 15th-most in Division I.
  • Outfielder Gephry Pena is a big reason for those stolen base numbers. The speedster not only has great range in the outfield, but he has taken 22 stolen bases.
  • Alex Freeland and Ben McCabe account for a large amount of UCF's run production. They each have 32 RBI, tied for the team lead.
