Women's Basketball Drops Sunday Tilt to Saint Joseph's

Lyric Swann and Emma Broermann Combine for 36 Points
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's basketball (1-4) dropped a Sunday afternoon matchup to Saint Joseph's as the Ospreys fell to the Hawks (6-0), 79-56, in the team's return from Ireland.
The Ospreys found themselves in a hole to the hot-shooting SJU squad that entered the game 5-0. Lyric Swann and Emma Broermann paced the scoring for UNF with 36 of the 56 points scored in the game. L. Swann set a season-high mark of 20 points, while Broermann was one rebound shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine boards.

First Half: Broermann got the action going for the Ospreys after receiving a pass into the paint from Kaila Rougier to get the first two up on the board...St. Joe's made back-to-back layups to extend their lead, but L. Swann drained a three to keep it tight early...SJU scored 13 consecutive after the three before Broermann grabbed another feed in the paint to cut the deficit at the end of the first quarter...L. Swann opened the second quarter with a quick layup, followed by Broermann hitting back-to-back layups later in the period...Rougier earned her first points of the game with a left-handed finish with two minutes left in the second quarter...a three on offense and a steal on defense from L. Swann ended the first half with the Ospreys down by 20.
Second Half: Brianna Livingston attacked quickly for UNF to start the second half with a driving layup...L. Swann later pulled up from downtown and returned again with a field goal jumper to respond to SJU's attacks...Rougier went to work in the paint once again driving around multiple bodies to earn the layup...a put-back and-one bucket from Broermann and layup by L. Swann ended the third with the Ospreys down by 29...L. Swann drained her fourth three-pointer of the game to start the fourth quarter...Sarah Taub fed Broermann in the paint, then was returned the favor with a driving layup assisted from Broermann...the other two freshmen, Helena Rafnsdottir and Maddie Millar, made back-to-back threes to cut into the Hawks' deficit, but it wasn't enough in a 79-56 loss at home.

- It was her fifth consecutive game with double-digit points, which ties Tesh Hanson for most in D-I history to start a season.
- L. Swann and Broermann combined for 17 of the 19 points in the first half.
- Rougier made her return in the starting lineup after missing the last two games due to injury.
- L. Swann, Broermann and Rougier all played over 30 minutes on Sunday.
