Men's Cross Country Earns Eighth at NCAA South Regionals

O'Gorman Posts 17th Overall with Personal-Best 10k Time
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - North Florida men's cross country had great times all around in its first 10k race of the year, as the Ospreys placed eighth in the NCAA South Regional meet on Friday morning.
Aidan O'Gorman was once again the top runner on the men's side for the fifth time this season. He placed 17th overall with a time of 30:06.9, which breaks his lifetime best mark from last year's regional meet and is second in program history for fastest XC 10k time.
The senior becomes the first UNF runner since Nathan Jubran in 2019 to be the top Osprey runner in five or more meets in a season. He also has led his team to four top-four team placements, as well as four top-10 individual finishes, during his 2022 campaign.
Notable teams that UNF finished over in the regional meet was Georgia, ETSU, Belmont and Florida, to go along with ASUN competitors, such as North Alabama, Kennesaw State and Florida Gulf Coast. The Ospreys were one of five teams that had three runners score in the top 50, while also having one of those runners score in the top 15.
The men's cross country team once again put forth another successful season with top team finishes and great individual accomplishments. The Ospreys had their best performance with a first-place team finish at the UNF Invitational, as well as a runner-up placements at the Alabama Crimson Classic. UNF also had two other top-four finishes at the Missouri Gans Creek Classic and ASUN Championship to along with the eighth-place rank in the season finale at the NCAA South Regional. Aidan O'Gorman was the star runner for the Ospreys this season, finishing as the top individual for UNF in all five meets. He had top-10 placements, including first overall at the UNF Invite, in his first four meets and finished his season in 17th at the NCAA South Regional. The senior also won his first career ASUN Men's XC Runner of the Week honor after the Missouri meet, Second Team All-ASUNÂ at the conference meet, and ASUN All-Academic to cap off the year. He also broke the 8k program record time twice in one season and now holds the top two times in UNF's 8k history, as well as two of the top three times for the 10k as well.

FINISH LINE
- O'Gorman held great strides through the majority of the race, pacing himself among the leaders to turn in a lifetime mark and top-20 finish.
- It is also the second consecutive season that O'Gorman has placed top 20 at the regional meet, as he repeated his 17th-place finish from last season.
- Robert Pedroza stayed in the mix among the top runners to take home 43rd at a personal-best 10k time of 31:00.1.
- Timothy Doyle ran with Pedroza during most of the race to join him inside the top 50 individuals at 31:02.1, which was also a new personal mark.
- Macauley Franks and Onix Ortiz ran well in their 10k debuts at UNF with placements among the top 80 clocking in with times of 31:38.1 and 31:42.0 respectively.
- Jared Vazquez, a redshirt fifth-year senior, turned in one final 10k time as an Osprey at 32:19.9 to finish just outside the top 100.
- UNF has now made it five straight seasons competing in the NCAA South Regional with a placement within the top eight teams.
- It is also the fourth consecutive time that an Osprey individual has placed in the top 20 at the regional meet.
