Gabrelcik Takes Share of Medalist Crown at Isleworth Collegiate

Ospreys Finish Tournament Tied for Fifth

WINDERMERE, Fla. - Junior Nick Gabrelcik adds on to his Osprey career résumé with a share of his seventh individual medalist crown at the Isleworth Collegiate hosted by UCF on Tuesday afternoon.

Gabrelcik repeated his opening round of 5-under 67 in the final round, including five birdies on his last seven holes, to complete the surge to first overall. Only six other golfers in program history have won multiple individual titles during regular season play and none of them have more than three total.

The Trinity, Fla., native helped the North Florida men's golf team to a fifth-place finish against a stacked field after falling to as low as 12th overall after the opening round. A pair of 5-under 67 rounds from Gabrelcik, as well as back-to-back rounds of 2-under 70 and 1-under 71 from Robbie Higgins, evaluated the Ospreys for their fourth consecutive top-five finish of the fall season.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

Gabrelcik was only one of six golfers this week to record scores in the 60s twice and was the only one to do it in the opening and final rounds.
His seven birdies in the final round gave him the top spot for most birdies among the field, as no other player had more than 16 total.
He also dominated with a share of the best par-five average score at 7-under and the second-best par-four score at 5-under.
Higgins carded another stellar round, which included an eagle on the 16th hole, to complete the event tied for 28th at 4-over 220.
Along with his eagle, he also had four total birdies to go along with his eight pars for his second straight round under par.
Davis Lee notched two birdies and 10 pars in the final round to combine for a score of 5-over 221 that put him just outside the top 30 individuals.
Lee finished in the week among the top 10 individuals for most pars with 36 total, which also leads the team through all three rounds.
Cody Carroll found his footing in the middle of the final round recording 2-under from holes five to 16 to place just outside the top 50 with an overall score of 11-over 227.
Lance Yates finished strong in the final round with two birdies on the closing five holes of the tournament to score 4-under 76 on the day.
UNF as a team did its best on par-four holes with a team average score of 7-over that ranks third among 15 teams.
UNF also finished fifth in birdies with 45 total, as well as one of four teams to have multiple players card an eagle or better throughout the week.

North Florida will make the trip out to Hawaii in just a couple days to compete in the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate from Oct. 28-30 at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course in Maui, Hawaii.
