TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - North Florida women's cross country earned a top-10 mark in the Crimson Classic at the Harry Pritchett Running Park on Friday morning.
The Ospreys fought a tough battle against top opponents, as they outranked several contenders, such as Clemson and Mississippi State. The Ospreys also finished ahead of Alcorn State and in-state competitor, FIU, despite their individual top-20 finishes.
Sophomore Isa Leen swiftly showcased her grit, leading the way in 40th place with a time of 21:34.6. Emma Jane Schlageter entered the course in the top 60, and moved up 18 slots while maintaining a steady pace to finish 44th. Both Leen and Schlageter recorded personal-best marks in the 6k race for a second consecutive meet.
FINISH LINE
- Leen was the top runner for the Ospreys beating her previous 6k by 78 seconds.
- Schlagater, who was the top runner for the last two meets, finished right behind Leen earning 44th place overall.
- Mia McLain grabbed the 51st slot being the third UNF runner to secure a personal-best 6k time of 21:45.2.
- Jada Williams was the top freshman once again for the Ospreys, as she outperformed her 6k record with a lifetime best mark of 22:02.3.
- Ella Chandler, Neve Moulai, and Hannah Martin showed fierce efforts on the course placing inside the top 75.
- Billie Castillo rounded out the race for UNF after she recorded a lifetime mark of 22:35.3.
- Ospreys acquired 10 spots among the top 100 runners in a meet that included seven Power Five Teams, as well as Middle Tennessee and Belmont, who are strong teams in the South Region.
