
INSIDE THE LANES: Swimming Opens Spring Slate at Georgia Southern

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida travels to Georgia Southern to begin the spring portion of the 2021-2022 competition season with a dual meet in Statesboro, Ga., on Saturday at 12 p.m.Â

FROM THE STARTING BLOCK
- The Ospreys fell to Georgia Southern in a dual meet this past fall.
- The last meet for both teams was the Eagle Invitational, hosted by FGCUÂ where Georgia Southern finished 2nd and UNF placed 3rd.
- Senior Ryan Showfety is coming off of earning the 10th fastest 1650 Free time in program history at the Eagle Invitational.
- North Florida will look to break the school record for 400 freestyle relay in which they came close to breaking at FGCU.
- The Ospreys head into the final stretch of the season with seven seniors who were represented on Senior Day in the first meeting between the two teams back in October.
- The last remaining meet for the Ospreys before the CCSA Championships will be Feb. 4-5 at FGCU.
- The CCSA Championships are Feb. 16-19Â in Lynchburg, Va.Â
- Georgia Southern's last two meets have been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns and winter weather conditions

"It's the first meet after the winter break. We're swimming a very good team in Georgia Southern and it's going to be very competitive throughout the meet. With the CCSA Championships coming up soon, this is a great chance to get in some good swims before the championship meet."
