HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two squads spent the first 10 minutes in a back-and-forth battle with both teams getting shot attempts
-North Florida struck first as sophomore Kayla Bond took a feed from the wing by Kendra Hoffman, dribbled by a WCU defender and then slipped a shot in the low left corner for the 1-0 lead
-In the 27th minute, Bond was again lurking at the top of the box as Ariana Munoz served her a ball that she tucked just inside the left post to give the Ospreys a 2-0 advantage
-The Ospreys collected 12 shots including 8 on frame and earned 4 corner kicks in the opening 45 minutes of play | Mercedes Sapp tallied five saves in the period in keeping the Catamounts off the board
-UNF added a quick score in the second period on a header from newcomer Kate Carter | The scoring play started with a corner kick that was headed by Marissa House toward the goal and headed out by an WCU defender before Carter concluded the ping-pong play with a nod over the outstretched arm of the keeper into the right side of the net
-WCU answered quickly, netting their lone goal of the night just two minutes later | Maryanne Kilgore finished a well played pass in the box from Maggie Lloyd
-Following a pair of close calls for another Osprey score, Thais Reiss closed the scoring with her first goal of the season and 34th of her career in the 78th minute | Reiss' corner kick attempt was deflected back to her and she curled the rebound off a defender and into the back of the net
-Sapp and freshman netminder Sarah Barrentine both recorded diving saves in the closing minutes to keep the final margin 4-1

"Always nice to start the season with a win, especially on the road. Thought overall we played well in spurts, but definitely need to clean up some things with our team defending. Kayla Bond, Kate Carter and Kendra Hoffman really played well tonight. We will enjoy the win tonight and then get ready for a big challenge at USF on Sunday."Head Coach Eric Faulconer
