5 Things: UNF Closes Out ASUN Action vs. Stetson

JACKSONVILLE - North Florida softball returns to the field after more than 10 days off as it hosts Stetson is the final regular season ASUN series Saturday and Sunday.
 

WHAT TO KNOW

  • North Florida (15-19, 7-8 ASUN) is looking to get back in the win column against the Hatters as its last outing was a run-rule at Jacksonville.
  • In the first meeting between the teams, UNF took two of three against the Hatters. The Ospreys fell in the opening game before bouncing back with back-to-back victories.
  • Sitting in third in the ASUN, Ashley Goebel owns a .370 average with 34 hits including four doubles. 
  • Kayla McGory and Shannon Glover both post above .300 averages and Glover leads the team with 20 RBI and 10 doubles. McGory is the top base runner with 12 stolen bases and a team-high 18 walks.
  • In the circle, Halle Arends continues to be the mainstay in the circle with her 10-6 record, ranking fifth in the league. Morgan Clausen is has fanned 62 batters to rank seventh in the ASUN and Arends is close behind with 58.
 

OPPONENT NOTES

STETSON
  • Stetson is 7-19 on the season with a 2-10 mark in ASUN play. The Hatters are coming off a 7-6 win against Kennesaw State in the cross over weekend and lost to Lipscomb, 1-0 in eight innings. Its two conference wins have come against UNF and JU.
  • Brianna Clary leads the team with a .347 average, while Marissa Baxter is second at .343. Baxter has only seen time in 13 games though.
  • Lizzy Shubert has brought in a team-best 19 runs and has six homeruns to her name. 
  • Chloe Temples leads in the circle with 75 strikeouts and owns three of the Hatters' wins.
 

UP NEXT

North Florida hosts FAU Wednesday, April 28 for a doubleheader and closes out the regular season with a doubleheader against North Alabama May 1.
