Early Advantage Not Enough, Men’s Tennis Drops ASUN Quarterfinal at FGCU

FORT MYERS, Fla. - North Florida men's tennis (6-13) took the doubles point and raced ahead to a 3-0 lead before having the advantage overturned in a 4-3 loss to host FGCU (7-5) in the ASUN Championship Quarterfinals Saturday, April 17.

UNF was the fourth seed in the ASUN South Division while FGCU was the top seed.

Tied 3-3, the match came down to the top slot. FGCU's Magnus Johnson edged Dominik Barton, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 to clinch it.

How it Happened
FGCU and UNF split doubles spots two and three, winning 6-3 at each court respectively. Jorge Nunez and Federico Nani won their sixth doubles match as a pair, giving UNF the doubles point.

PJ Kotan didn't drop a game in his opening set against Randy Wilson at the third slot. He then put UNF ahead, 2-0, thanks to a 6-3 set-two win.

Rodrigo Crespo turned in a 6-3, 6-4, victory against Alessandro Conca as North Florida created its 3-0 advantage.

FGCU got a quick one back at the fourth slot before winning singles positions two, six and one in three frames.
