Five Things: UNF Returns Home to Host FGCU

JACKSONVILLE - After eight games on the road, North Florida softball returns to the UNF Softball Complex to host FGCU for the second half of ASUN play beginning Friday, April 2.

Home softball games are closed to the public. Admission is only via team pass lists and for a limited number of UNF students. Fans must wear masks while in attendance with the exception of eating or drinking. Clear bags are required. Please check our COVID Protocols page for any updates.
 

WHAT TO KNOW

  • UNF (12-16, 4-5 ASUN) returns home after snapping a seven-game skid with a pair of victories to close out the series at Stetson. 
  • Ashley Goebel leads the team with a .347 average and is currently on a six-game reached base streak. She has seven multi-hit games this season.
  • In ASUN games, Kayla McGory is hitting .375 with one double and one home run, while also collecting five stolen bases.
  • Shannon Glover tops the Ospreys with 14 RBI with seven doubles and a pair of home runs. She is hitting .300 wtih 27 hits.
  • On the rubber, Halle Arends is tied for second in the conference with eight wins in her 16 appearances. She has 54 strikeouts in 72.1 innings pitched and sits fourth in the league with a 1.74 ERA. Counterpart Morgan Clausen is eighth in the ASUN with 47 strikeouts.
 

OPPONENT NOTES

FGCU (17-11, 8-1)
  • FGCU is looking to sweep the Ospreys after taking three games in Fort Myers on March 20 and 21
  • Johneisha Rowe leads the team with a .364 average and Reedy Davenport is just behind. Davenport tops the Eagles with 17 RBI on her 27 hits with sven doubles. She also is the hardest to strikeout with 12 walks.
  • Hope Hernandez and Hannah Shemansky are also hitting above .300 on the season.
  • In the circle, Sarah Lawton owns a 1.54 ERA in 10 appearances with a 6-2 record. She owns 43 strikeouts in her 54.2 innings pitched. Marissa Mesiemore has a team-best eight wins and has fanned 21 batters.

UNF faces off with Jacksonville at the Debbie & Fred Pruitt Softball Complex in a search for points for the River City Rumble standings. Games are slated for a doubleheader Saturday, April 10 at 3:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
