JACKSONVILLE - North Florida men's soccer looks to notch their third consecutive win of the season as it hosts FGCU to kick off ASUN play. Saturday's game will be played at Patton Park and is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
WHAT TO KNOW
- UNF is coming off a road victory at No. 25 FIU, marking the first time since 2016 the Ospreys defeated a ranked opponent.
- Senior LJ Estes was named Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week after anchoring the team's backline and holding FIU to just three shots in the game's opening 45 minutes.
- Junior Jovoney Brown earned his first career ASUN Player of the Week, scoring the lone goal in UNF's victory over FIU.
- Keeper Padraic Gilley got his first start of the season, grabbing one save to lead the team to its first shutout of the season.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
FGCU is searching for its first win of the season as it is 0-1-1. In their Tuesday game against FAU, the Eagles conceded the game-tying goal with just 13 seconds left on the clock. Sophomore Tremain Simpson netted the team's lone goal - the first of his Eagle career. FGCU also faced off with FIU earlier in the season, falling 3-2.
SERIES HISTORY
FGCU has the edge over UNF, leading the series 11-2-3. The two teams last met in the ASUN semifinals in 2019 with the Eagles grabbing the 2-1 win. During the regular season, the squads tied, 1-1 in Jacksonville. The teams will meet again on March 13 in Fort Myers.

UNF continues ASUN play against Stetson Saturday, March 6. The game is scheduled to be the first of the season at Hodges Stadium.
