North Florida is in the ASUN South Division this season ... The ASUN is split up into two divisions, the north and the south. The ASUN South Division features UNF, Jacksonville, FGCU and Stetson, while the ASUN North Division consists of Kennesaw State, Liberty, Bellarmine, North Alabama and Lipscomb ... UNF plays 10 games against teams in the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Georgia and Florida State all played in the Athens Regional that season. North Florida plays nine games against Power Five teams.

UNF has 21 letterwinners returning after having lost nine from the 2020 campaign ... North Florida has eight starters returning, having lost three ... The Ospreys have 12 newcomers ... Six pitchers return after having started a game last season ... Redshirt-senior Eddie Miller returns after being named a NCBWA Preseason Stopper Watch List nominee ... UNF has three new graduate transfers in Cam Weinberger, Ethan Jones and Alex Kachler ... Kachler was named a COSIDA-Division III All-American at Methodist University, while Jones collected 68 appearances, 12 saves and 126 punchouts as a reliever with Flagler College.

4. Notables

• UNF is 25-8 in season openers and is 3-2 over its last five season openers.
• This is the first time UNF has opened the season on the road since 2011 when it was at Charleston Southern.
• The Ospreys last opened the season against a Power Five opponent in 2019 when they hosted Missouri, taking two of three.
• North Florida has won 17 games against ranked foes.
• Tony Roca will start Friday night, he went 1-0 with a 3.31 ERA in his first taste of Division I baseball last year.

• Florida State went 12-5 and 1-2 in the ACC last year.
• The Seminoles hit just .259 as a team last year, but their pitching was dominant, holding batters to only .188 hitting and 49 RBI in 17 games.
• FSU starts two returners on the mound, while Carson Montgomery is a newcomer, going on Saturday.
• Parker Messick, the Friday night starter, had a 0.77 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 17.2 innings.
• Conor Grady turned a 3.00 ERA in 15 innings, fanning 15.
• The ACC tabbed Florida State third in the Atlantic Division of the ACC, receiving one first place vote.
