Christina Yamnyuk, freshman
What's your major?
Criminal Justice
What's your dream career?
Behavioral Analyst
In 10 years, where do you want to be?
In 10 years I want to be living on the beach with my friends and family. All I care about is that I'm happy.
Why do you play beach volleyball?
I play beach volleyball because of the love I have for the game. I've dedicated most of my life to the sport and it had become my passion. The great thing about beach is that you aren't restricted from playing only one position, and the outdoor atmosphere is so much fun!
Do you have a favorite moment in your career playing beach volleyball?
My favorite moment would probably be a quarterfinals game against our rivals we played at provincials back home. In the final set we were tied at 18s. The next two rallies went on for what felt like forever but I scored the game winning point and we won the game. It is my favorite moment because it was such a sweet victory and made all our hard work that season worth it.
Who/what inspires you?
My family inspires me to be the best person and athlete I can be. They have always encouraged and stood by me no matter what and I want to make them proud.
What is something about you that people wouldn't expect?
I make a lot of dad jokes.
What's your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement would be committing to play beach volleyball here at the University of North Florida.
What's the most valuable piece of advice you have received?
To never give up no matter who or what is against you. If you believe in yourself you can do anything you put your mind to.
Pre-match meal?
Peanut butter and jelly sandwich with chocolate milk.
Pre-match music?
Anything rap.
Favorite hobby?
Cooking and Baking.
What does it mean to be a student-athlete?
A student-athlete works hard for everything they have. They are driven and disciplined. To be one means that you are committed to being the best version of yourself and excelling in both the classroom and on the court.
