
Trio of Ospreys Earn All-ASUN Volleyball Honors, Moro Named Defensive Player of the Year

Moro Becomes First in UNF History to Earn Consecutive ASUN Defensive Player of the Year Honors
ATLANTA - North Florida volleyball's stalwart libero Rocio Moro made history while joining teammate Dariana Hollingsworth-Santana on the All-ASUN First Team, and freshman Annie Antar nabbed a spot on the ASUN All-Freshmen Team as announced by the league office in the 2021 ASUN Postseason All-Conference release Wednesday, Nov. 17.
Moro's historical achievement saw her become the first Osprey in program history to be named ASUN Defensive Player of the Year twice, also making her the first UNF Volleyball player ever named ASUN Defensive Player of the Year in consecutive seasons. She joins FGCU's Dana Axner as the only other player in ASUN history to earn the award twice in as many seasons.Â
Additionally, Moro is the only player in UNF volleyball program history named to ASUN First Team All-Conference on two occasions.
Hollingsworth-Santana was also named to the ASUN First Team, making it the first time two Ospreys were tabbed to the top team since 2012 when Paige Pridgeon and Nicole Baran earned spots on the first team.Â
Freshman setter Annie Antar played her way to a slot on the ASUN All-Freshmen Team, becoming the 10th Osprey named to the ASUN All-Freshmen team. She joins teammates Julianna Askew, Rocio Moro, Solimar Cestero and Gabby O'Connell as honorees of the award.Â

Moro was named ASUN Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and lived up to expectations, earning three ASUN Defensive Player of the Year awards to become the only player in ASUN Volleyball history to become a seven-time ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honoree.Â
The libero paced the league in digs/set and digs for just conference games and overall. Moro posted 518 digs and 4.75 digs/set, finishing the regular season with the 36th most digs/set in the nation and the 15th most digs in the country.Â
Her three ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honors this season paced the league, with teammate Bre Walp finishing with two such honors to give the Ospreys five on the season, good for the ASUN lead.Â
A floor general, Moro led the team in digs in 24 of 29 matches, while also pacing the team in aces on four occasions. She finished second in the league among liberos in assists, tallying seven assists on two occasions.Â
Moro reached double-digit digs in 26 of 29 matches, while posting 32 in a five-set battle with FGCU. Her play helped UNF hold opponents to .181 hitting, the second-best mark in the league.Â
The San Juan, P.R., native surpassed 1,500 digs for her career and concludes the regular season with ten ASUN weekly awards, two ASUN Defensive Player of the Year honors and a spot on the ASUN All-Freshman team.
Dariana Hollingsworth-Santana | OH/RS | San Juan, P.R.
Joining Moro on the first team is graduate transfer Dariana Hollingsworth-Santana, an essential cog in UNF's banner year. Hollingsworth-Santana and Moro teamed up to become the first duo named to the All-ASUN First Team in the same season since 2012.Â
The outside hitter was one of the most well-rounded players in the league, tallying seven double-doubles, 3.31 kills/set, 2.20 digs/set, 25 blocks, 19 aces and 14 assists in ASUN play. She was an ASUN Preseason All-Conference pick and was named the Sept. 20 ASUN Player of the Week.Â
Hollingsworth-Santana led the team in kills with 340, while adding 260 digs. 20 times she finished with at least 10 kills in a match, finishing with 12 double-doubles after factoring in non-conference action. She finished with the third-most kills in ASUN play and the fifth-best kills/set mark.Â
Annie Antar | S | Klein, Texas
Freshman Annie Antar helped quarterback one of the best offenses in the nation, serving as an immediate contributor all season in a 6-2 rotation. Antar finished second in the ASUN for assists among freshmen setters. In conference play, Antar averaged 5.98 assists/set, while putting up 293 assists, 0.31 aces/set, 1.22 digs/set, six blocks and a .277 hitting percentage.Â
On 12 occasions she reached 20-plus assists, including a 41-assist day at Kennesaw State. Antar put up four double-doubles, including a 19-assist and 11-dig double-double in her collegiate debut.Â
The setter's play had a part in UNF's outcomes. In wins, Antar put up 400 of her 526 assists, while she also had 113 of her 147 digs coming in UNF's 23 wins. Behind the setting work of Antar and Julianna Askew, UNF finished the regular season with a .246 hitting percentage, good for third in the league and in the top-50 throughout the nation.
