JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Home sweet home remained the narrative Friday night as UNF volleyball (15-1, 4-0 ASUN) held Stetson to .098 hitting and downed the Hatters (7-9, 2-2 ASUN) in straight sets Oct. 1 from the UNF Arena. The Ospreys have won a season-best eight straight matches and now set a program record for wins to start ASUN play.
Dariana Hollingsworth-Santana paced the Ospreys with her ninth double-double of the 2021 campaign as UNF picked up its seventh win in seven tries at the UNF Arena.
UNF 3, Stetson 0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-22)
Inside the Sets
- Set 1: UNF got off to a 3-0 start before Stetson gained momentum and tied things up 5-5 … the Hatters possessed a one-point lead before the Ospreys rattled off a 5-2 run for a 12-9 advantage … Stetson never got closer than two points as Hollingsworth-Santana hit .444 with five kills … UNF posted two aces and two blocks to Stetson's one ace and one block.
- Set 2: After being down 1-0, Hollingsworth-Santana evened it up with a kill and Gabby O'Connell put the Ospreys ahead 2-1 … after a 4-4 tie, UNF never trailed in the set … the Ospreys outhit their opponent, .310 to -.031 in the frame, making only three attack errors.
- Set 3: Stetson looked poised to push the match to four frames, leading 13-10 … that's when UNF pulled off a key 4-0 run on Grace Youngblood's serve … the set would see seven more tie scores … down 22-21, Bre Walp and Maddie Boyd posted clutch kills and the Hatters suffered consecutive attack errors to close out the match.
