JACKSONVILLE - After three games at home, North Florida women's basketball heads out on the road to open the second part of ASUN play at FGCU and NJIT.
BOARD IT UP
Senior Adrienne Jackson ranks 36th in the country in total rebounds (205) and 47th in rebounds per game (9.3). She has 577 career rebounds and needs six to take over the seventh spot in the UNF records. The Leesburg, Fla. native has 205 this season which is 17 more than her freshman and sophomore campaigns combined. Last season she grabbed 184 in 28 games played.
NOT GREEN ANYMORE
After scoring just 7.3 points per game as a junior college transfer, Janesha Green has almost doubled her average this season. Green ranks 10th in the ASUN in total points with 294. She scored 189 as a junior. In addition to scoring, Green has tripled her assist total and now has 69 on the season to lead the team and rank seventh in the ASUN.
LONG RANGE
UNF moved into first in three-point percentage in the ASUN and is ranked 58th in the nation with a 34.4 percent clip. In league play, the Ospreys are shooting 35.7 percent from long range and have 61 makes.
SMOOTH CRIMINAL
North Florida has had five or more steals in seven of its nine ASUN games. The Ospreys swiped 13 against Kennesaw State on February 1 and are currently led by Jackson who has swiped away at least three steals in the last four games.
HOLD THEM DOWN
The Ospreys are second in the ASUN in defensive field goal percentage, holding opponents to just 36.9 shooting. UNF is 76th in the country in scoring defensive, surrendering just 59.9 points per game.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
FGCU (22-2, 9-0 ASUN)
- Keri Jewett-Giles (16.5 PPG) and Davion Wingate (15.7 PPG) set the pace for the Eagles' scoring.
- FGCU is coming off an 81-68 win over JU at Swisher Gymnasium Monday with Nasrin Urel scoring a career-high 36 points.
- The Eagles lead the NCAA in three-pointers made per game (11.7).
- The last Battle of the Birds matchup occured in January when the Eagles picked up a 72-50 win at UNF Arena.
- FGCU earned a No. 24 ranking in the AP Coaches Poll, while also receiving votes in the USA Today Top 25.
NJIT (3-18, 0-8 ASUN)
- The Highlanders have been on a 12-game losing skid since their 61-52 win against Hartford in December.
- Danielle Tunstall is fourth in the conference in rebounds per game (8.4), recording double-digit rebounds in three games this season.
- NJIT fell short to North Alabama, 57-55, in their closest conference game to date. Kenna Squier put up 19 points in the loss for the Highlanders.
- The Ospreys took down the Highlanders,71-48, earlier this season with four Ospreys scoring in double figures.
