Three Score In Double Figures in Loss to No. 25 FGCU

- North Florida women's basketball had three players score in double figures, but it wasn't enough as No. 25 FGCU picked up a 72-50 win on the road Monday at UNF Arena.

North Florida (9-8, 2-2 ASUN) scored just nine points in the third quarter to allow the Eagles (17-2, 4-0 ASUN) to take their biggest lead of the game late in the frame.

Victoria Patrick hit back-to-back threes to open the game and give UNF its lone lead of the game, 6-5 early in the first.

INSIDE THE GAME
  • Patrick hit back-to-back threes to open the game, but then FGCU jumped on a 17-4 run to lead 26-10 after one.
  • In the second, the Ospreys held the Eagles without a basket for more than three minutes while going on an 11-2 run to pull within 30-12.
  • From there though, the visitors took control back with an 11-2 run to lead 41-23 at the break.
  • FGCU created distance with a 21-0 run in the third quarter to take its biggest lead of the game, 65-30, before Tolbert ended the streak with a bucket to make it 65-32 after three.
  • In the fourth, North Florida held the Eagles to just seven points on 3-for-13 from the field, while adding a game-high 18 points in the frame.


Osprey Fast Breaks
  • Jackson has now reached double figure rebounds in six games this year and had back-to-back games with 15 or more. She now ranks 11th all-time in UNF history with 523 rebounds.
  • Tolbert returned to action after two games off and added 12 points to reach double figures for the 22nd time in her career.
  • The Ospreys made just 16 field goals on the night - a season low and shot 29 percent from the field. FGCU made 30 field goals to tie Miami for the most against UNF.
  • FGCU's 41 points were a season high for opponents in the first half, but the seven points in the fourth quarter were a season-low for the Eagles.

North Florida has a week off to prepare for crosstown rival Jacksonville. The teams face off at historic Swisher Gymnasium Monday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m.
