THE FACTS: Softball Hosts the Osprey Classic

JACKSONVILLE - North Florida softball plays at home for the first time this season, hosting Ball State, ETSU and Alabama A&M in the Osprey Classic Friday and Saturday. 

AT THE HELM
Head Coach Marcie Higgs needs one more win to earn her 400th career victory.

HOT BATS
  • The Ospreys had their most hits against Florida Wednesday in their 10 meetings.
  • Kayla McGory and Taylor Engman had two hits on the night, with McGory adding two RBI.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Alabama A&M (0-5)
  • Alabama A&M suffered losses from Louisana Tech, Houston Baptist, Central Arkansas and Montana. 
  • Freshman Jacqueline Rookaird leads the team with a .333 average, four hits and one RBI.
  • Sophomore McHailee Danner holds a 2.92 ERA in 12 innings pitched, allowing six runs in the opening weekend.
  • Last season the Bulldogs posted a 24-19 mark, going 12-7 in the SWAC.

ETSU (0-4)
  • ETSU lost its games to Rutgers, Georgia Southern and Army. 
  • Kelly Warren leads the Bucs with a .750 average and nine hits and also has one RBI on the season.
  • Last season, Warren was second on the team with a .314 average and also collected 55 hits and 11 RBI.
  • Kelly Schmidt has a 1.97 ERA in 10.2 innings pitched, allowing just three runs. 
  • The Bucs finished 22-27-2 overall and 6-11 in Southern Conference play. 

Ball State (2-3)
  • The Cardinals picked up two wins during opening weekend, handing Prairie View A&M a 16-9 loss, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff an 8-2 loss in a six-inning game due to travel restrictions. 
  • Amaia Daniel and Faith Hensley lead the team with .500 averages. 
  • Senior Haley Dominique leads Ball State with eight runs and also collected three RBI and a .400 average during opening weekend. 
  • Senior Alyssa Rothwell leads the pitching staff with a 2.71 ERA in 10.1 innings pitched, surrendering four runs in her three appearances. 
  • Last season Ball state went 34-20 overall and 9-8 in the MAC.
