Fourth Quarter Surge Gives Win at Kennesaw State



KENNESAW, Ga. 
- North Florida women's basketball bounced back after a slow third quarter to outscore Kennesaw State, 24-10, in the final frame to grab its first ASUN win of the season.

Turning Point

North Florida (8-7, 1-1 ASUN) started the fourth quarter on an 10-0 run, fueled by six points from Eremeeva and never looked back.

Green scored back-to-back lay ups in the fourth quarter to spark a 10-3 run that gave North Florida a 10-point lead with 50 seconds left in the frame.

INSIDE THE GAME
  • The Ospreys raced out to an 11-4 lead before Kennesaw State got to within one with a 6-0 run. Back-to-back baskets allowed North Florida to regain distance and lead 17-13 after one.
  • In the second, UNF started with an 11-0 run before the Owls hit back-to-back jumpers to make it 28-19.
  • Kennesaw State (6-7, 0-2 ASUN) quickly closed the gap with a 6-0 run before Rhetta Moore ended the streak with a triple, but the hosts responded with two buckets to make it 31-26 at the half.
  • The Owls came out of the break to outscore UNF 19-9 in the third and own a 45-40 lead heading into the final frame.
  • North Florida jumped on its own 10-0 run to lead 50-45. KSU got to within 52-49 and held UNF without a field goal, but the Ospreys went 10-for-12 from the line to secure the win.

Osprey Fast Breaks
  • Victoria Patrick started her first game for the Ospreys, finishing with five points and four rebounds.
  • North Florida has now had three games with 30 or more free throw attempts and it is the fifth time with 20 or more makes from the line.
  • Bond was limited in playing time due to quick fouls in the opening quarter, but finished with four blocks, six rebounds and five points.

What's Next

North Florida heads back to Jacksonville for its next three games. UNF hosts NJIT and FGCU before playing Jacksonville.
