JACKSONVILLEÂ - North Florida swimming travels to Florida to face off with the No. 8 Gators, Vanderbilt and Liberty in a quad meet Friday.
1. LAST TIME OUT
North Florida pushed past Georgia Southern with a first and third finish in the 400 free relay to defeat Georgia Southern, 120-111, Saturday, Jan. 11. It completes a season sweep of the Eagles as UNF grabbed a win against them earlier in the season at home.
2. COFFEY TALK
"We are going up to Virginia to swim two very good programs. This is the first time our program will be competing against Old Dominion and VMI. I'm looking for sharp racing and fast swims."
3. FLY AWAY
Junior Sydney Groth posted the second best time of the season in the 200 butterfly to finish first against the Eagles. She also helped the 200 medley relay place second with a time of 1:53.09 to sit seventh on the season's top 10 list.
4. SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
VMI is currently 0-5 on the year and is coming off a 158-40 loss against Washington & Lee. Sophie Svoboda placed second in the 100 breaststroke, while Isabella DeCosta swam top team times in the 100 and 200 backstroke.
CCSA foe Old Dominion is 3-2 on the year and returns to the pool after a close 193-101 loss at William & Mary on January 11. Tara Enneking is coming off a win in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM. She placed second in the 200 breast. Summer Miln placed second in the 50 free with a time of 24.48, while also placing second in the 100 free. Two other swimmers placed third in their respective events, but it was not enough to win the meet.
Both teams do have diving which means the Ospreys will have to make up points in the swimming events.
