KICKOFF - North Florida women's soccer gets the 2019 season started with a weekend trip through the Carolinas, battling at Coastal Carolina on Thursday before meeting LaSalle, Sunday in Chapel Hill, N.C.

OSPREY FACTS

1. LOOKING BACK - North Florida opened the 2019 season with a 3-1 exhibition victory against Southeastern University last Saturday night at Hodges Stadium... The Ospreys got a goal and assist from Julia Martin along with goals by Karina Bermudez and Sydney Hauth... UNF went 7-8-1 last year

2. OSPREY DEBUT - Head coach Eric Faulconer was promoted to head coach for the Ospreys in the spring following two seasons as an assistant... No stranger to the top spot, Faulconer owns a career coaching mark of 240-98-29 over 18 years on the sideline

3. PRESEASON PREDICTIONS - Junior Thais Reiss and redshirt sophomore Hollyn Knight were both named to the preseason All-ASUN squad... North Florida was picked to finish 7th in ASUN according to a vote of the head coaches

4. WHO'S BACK - The Ospreys return 25 players including 9 starters from last season... Eight of the squad's top nine scorers are on the roster highlighted by Reiss (6g/5a) and Kendra Hoffman (5g/3a)

5. SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA & LaSALLE
- Coastal Carolina went 8-8-1 last season and return their top three scorers... Senior forward Hannah Miller, the top scorer with 5 goals, was named to the preseason All-Big South squad... Head coach Paul Hogan is in his 8th year leading the CCU progam... Chanticleers tabbed to finish 4th in Big South preseason poll... Chants posted a 1-0 win in their exhibition game against College of Charleston

- LaSalle is coming off an 8-8-1 mark a year ago under the guidance of 17th year head coach Paul Royal... The Explorers return three of its top four scorers and kick off the 2019 season on Thursday night versus No. 8 Duke as part of the Nike Carolina Classic in Chapel Hill, N.C... LaSalle, picked to finish 7th in preseason A10 poll, has reached the NCAA Tournament in five of the last seven years

"Our players have had a very successful preseason and we are looking forward to playing two quality opponents to open our 2019 non-conference schedule. As I told them before our exhibition match last Saturday, this team has the ability to have a very successful season, but we have to prove that on the field of play. Winning and losing is cultural. Going back to last spring, we are now starting to win more. We are learning how to win. Overall, our players are playing with more confidence. I feel we have the right mix of experience and youth in our lineup, as well as on the bench to surprise a lot of people this year. Coastal Carolina and LaSalle are two quality programs and will be a good barometer of where we are at and what we need to work on. We are looking forward to two very competitive matches and I am certain we will be up to the challenge." -- Head coach Eric Faulconer
