TEAM NOTES
  • Head Coach Marcie Higgs won her 300th game on Sunday against Stetson. She has had 20 or more wins in each of her 11 seasons with the Ospreys and is 300-288 at UNF (11 seasons) and 393-393 for her 18-year career.
  • Senior Navia Penrod earned her first career ASUN Player of the Week honor after hitting .727 against the Hatters. During conference, the Naples, Fla., native is hitting .431 against conference teams and has team-highs in RBI (12), runs scored (11) and hits (28) during ASUN action.
  • Classmate Tiffany Lower owns a .306 ASUN average with 10 extra-base hits and 10 RBI on 19 hits.
  • Another senior, Dominica Cocuzza, has led the team at the plate the entire season. She is currently batting .378 with 36 RBI. She enters the tournament on a seven-game reached base streak.
  • In the circle, Sydney Matzko is just two strikeouts away from recording 100 or more for the second straight season.

ASUN TOURNAMENT HISTORY
  • North Florida (26-22, 8-12 ASUN) enters the tournament for the fourth time in program history with the previous three coming in each odd year since 2013 (2017, 2015, 2013).
  • UNF is 1-1 against FGCU in the tournament.
  • The Ospreys have an all-time record of 4-6 in the championship and will be the No. 6 seed for the first time.
  • Should UNF claim the title, it would be the first time a six seed has won it. A No. 6 seed has advanced to the final twice in conference history (Samford, 1990; Troy, 2001).

RECORD WATCH
  • Penrod moved into sixth place in the ASUN record book in career hits as she has 272 now - just 13 out of the top spot.
  • Senior Sydney Matzko broke into the top 10 list for strikeouts. She now owns 240 in her two-year career.

SERIES HISTORY
- FGCU won both games in Jacksonville this season, 4-3 and 6-3 in a rain-shortened series. Last season, FGCU knocked UNF out of the running to go to the ASUN postseason.
- UNF is 8-17 all-time against the Eagles and have beaten them twice in Fort Myers

OPPONENT QUICK HITS

  • The No. 3 seed has won the ASUN Championship just one time (Stetson, 2014) and advanced to the title game four times.
  • The Eagles won the championship in 2012 and have played in the final game three times in program history.
  • Kate Kelly leads the team with a .370 average and 54 hits.
  • Raquel Fornet is the main run creator for the Eagles as she has a team-best 28 RBI on her 50 hits. She is aided by Reedy Davenport who owns 23 RBI on the year.
