Kotan Ranked 90th in Australia, Hails from Queensland
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - For the first time since at least the 2004-05 season the North Florida men's tennis team will have an Australia native on its roster as head coach Matt Lucas and staff announce the signing of Patrick, "P.J.", Kotan.
"I couldn't be more excited for P.J. (Patrick junior) to be joining our program in the fall of 2019," head coach Matt Lucas said. "His desire to use the resources available at UNF to prepare him for life on the ATP Tour, all whilst getting a first class education aligns perfectly with the culture we have created here. Tennis wise he is a workhorse and absolutely loves honing his craft."
Hailing from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, Kotan is a 6'0" lefty ranked in the top five in Australia for players born in 2001. PJ's accolades include but are not limited to:
Â
"His athleticism, professionalism and desire to be great are what made him an obvious choice to bring him on board," Lucas said. "P.J. is also extremely bright and will be an incredible student-athlete here at UNF. I cannot wait to get him on campus in August and see his game explode as he physically gets stronger. The sky is the limit for P.J. and I feel confident he will put in the work to become one of the best to play her at UNF! Swoop!"
