UNF Returns Home to Host Kennesaw State


JACKSONVILLE - North Florida softball returns back to Jacksonville to host Kennesaw State on Saturday and Sunday. The teams will play two games on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. before a single game on Sunday, also at 1 p.m.

TEAM NOTES
  • North Florida returns home for its next seven games and four of the final five ASUN series.
  • UNF looks to bounce back after dropping two games at Lipscomb last weekend.
  • Currently, the Ospreys rank third in batting average (.284) in the ASUN, just behind Lipscomb (.285) and Kennesaw State (.289).
  • With six total home runs against the Bisons, North Florida moved into third in the conference in round trippers with 20.

  • Classmate Dominica Cocuzza is chasing a few records of her own including doubles and RBI. She needs nine doubles to tie the school record held by Kelly Lee. Currently sitting at 119 RBI, Cocuzza is 24 behind Gwen Williams (2005-08) who has 143 for her career. Cocuzza currently has 30 on the season.
  • Matzko is currently trying to break the top 10 strikeout list. She has 207 and needs 22 to take the 10th spot in just two seasons of work with UNF.

- Kennesaw State owns a 48-17 edge against the Ospreys dating back to the Division II days and is 30-12 in Division I history.
- The Owls have won the last five meetings including a 2-1 win in the 2017 ASUN Tournament. 
- The Ospreys last beat KSU in a sweep on April 8, 7-3 and 2-1 in Jacksonville.
