MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - A costly loss of the doubles point and a few missed opportunities in singles loomed large in UNF's defeat at Middle Tennessee State Sunday. The Blue Raiders (8-6) topped visiting North Florida (4-6) as UNF finished its weekend in Tennessee.

MTSU took number-one doubles but Sahil Deshmukh and Dominik Barton secured a 6-3 win at the second spot to tie it. Match points slipped away in the decisive doubles match as MTSU outlasted the Ospreys for a 1-0 lead.

Deshmukh and Till Von Winning won a pair of matches that went to three sets, but not before three quick wins in singles secured the overall match for the hosts.

Coach Lucas' Comments:
"Extremely disheartening result today. Having three match points in doubles and failing to convert definitely changed the tone of the match. We had two no shows in singles today, and were down 3-0 so quickly that we couldn't recover. Until some guys take ownership and say enough is enough we will be a fairly pedestrian team. It shouldn't hurt the coaches more than it hurts the players when they lose matches." -- Head coach Matt Lucas

Notes:

MTSU leads the all-time series, 3-2.
Von Winning has now played at number one, two and three singles this season.
Deshmukh and Barton are 3-1 as a pair.
