MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. - North Florida softball split the opening day of the Madeira Beach Invitational as the Ospreys took down Albany, 4-1, before falling 5-2 to Purdue in the second game on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- Both teams stayed silent through four complete until the Ospreys took advantage of a wild inning in the fifth.
- Rindy Bryant led off with a walk before moving on a sac bunt.
- Navia Penrod then pulled a short infield hit near the shortstop who tried to get Bryant at second, but she was able to advance for runners on the corners.
- Mary Rodriguez came in to bat in the two-hole and set down a sac bunt right in front of the plate, but all of the runners came out unscathed to load the pond.
- Albany got the next batter on a fly out before a passed ball allowed runners to move and UNF to take the 1-0 advantage.
- Freshman Paige Pfent then sent a deep ball to right field for a stand-up triple to score two for the 3-0 advantage.
- To end the scoring, Dominica Cocuzza sent an RBI single to the left for the 4-0 run.
- The Danes got one the board in the sixth on two hits and an Osprey error.
- Blourne got the win, tossing the complete game with three strikeouts and no walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Purdue tacked on a run in each of first three innings of the game before the Ospreys answered with a pair of scores in the third.
- Veronika Klimpova laced an RBI double and Cocuzza plated another with an infield-RBI single in the bottom of the third, cutting the Boilermaker lead to one.
- The Boilermakers opened the game up with two scores on a pair of doubles and a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.
- The Ospreys' best threat the rest of the way came in the sixth with a Katelin Davis single, but a double play stalled the comeback and then Purdue sat down UNF in order in the seventh.
