No. 17 Miami Tops Women's Basketball

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - North Florida women's basketball could not overcome a slow start to the second half as No. 17 Miami grabbed the 78-55 win in front of 3,500 elementary school kids at the Watsco Center Wednesday.

Miami eventually pushed its lead to 56-37 with a 10-2 run to close out the third quarter. The lone points scored were from freshman Emma Broermann's first field goal of the season.

- In the opening quarter, the Hurricanes went on an 18-4 run from the first to second quarter to lead 31-16, but it was short lived.
- North Florida turned on the defense, holding Miami to just one basket for the remainder of the second to cut the lead to 34-26 at the half.
- After the break, Miami came out with six straight points and never looked back.Â
- The Ospreys got as close as 11 thanks to back-to-back buckets from Gordon, but Miami then jumped on a 10-0 run to push the lead back to 20.
- The Hurricanes used a 16-4 run to put the game out of reach as UNF was held without a basket for more than five minutes.

- The 55 points were the most against Miami in the five meetings and the scoring margin was the closest in those meetings as well.
- Senior Adrienne Jackson and freshman Ariel Scott each had three assists.
- UNF shot 11-for-11 from the line with a 3-for-3 performance from Janesha Green.
- The Ospreys outscored the Hurricanes 12-9 in the second quarter.
