JACKSONVILLE - University of North Florida Director of Athletics Lee Moon announced a new organizational model for the Athletics Development Office, including the promotion of Nick Morrow to Senior Associate Athletics Director of Development, External & Financial Operations.
Morrow will now manage all aspects of the UNF Athletics Development Office and serve as the Director of the Osprey Club. His responsibilities will include the management of all development operations and the development staff in addition to his current duties with oversight of external operations, including Marketing, Sponsorships, Communications, Ticket Office and Broadcasts. Morrow also maintains his role as the Athletic Department's Chief Financial Officer.
"We are excited about this new organizational plan for a variety of reasons," said Moon. "Development is a vitally important area in athletics that requires folks with 'people skills' along with a strong work ethic, the ability to clearly communicate and an attention to detail. During his time at UNF, Nick has clearly demonstrated all of these traits at the highest level. In his current roles, Nick has already built and developed relationships with some of our key shareholders in the Osprey Club, University Administration, marketing partners and the general public. This experience provides us a level of consistency and continuity that will be a true benefit moving forward. In order for this plan to work effectively, the entire external operations staff will need to rally together and be involved in all aspects of duties. I look forward to the growth in this area under Nick's guidance."
Currently in his ninth year with the Ospreys, Morrow came to UNF following a six-year stint in the University of Maryland Athletic Department. He is a native of Jacksonville and graduated from Nease High School before attending the University of Florida. Morrow worked with the University Athletic Association, UF RecSports, and the Stephen C. O'Connell Center while earning his bachelor's degree in Accounting.
The new organizational model looks to further strengthen the Athletics' Development Office, with current Assistant Athletic Director of Ticket Operations, Justin Burdette, joining the development team in his new position as Assistant Athletic Director of Revenue Generation and Ticketing. In this new role, Burdette will have increased responsibilities for generating revenue through fundraising as well as creating an outbound ticket sales team. In addition, he will continue to manage the Athletics' Ticket Office.
"Justin has been with UNF Athletics for over five years and has done a tremendous job managing the Athletics' Ticket Office," added Moon. "He is a proven asset to this Department and demonstrated a readiness for this next step in his career. I am very confident Justin will make a positive impact on the Development Office."
The new organizational plan calls for the UNF Athletic Department to hire an Assistant Director of Development for the staff, joining Morrow, Burdette and current Coordinator of Development, Michael Johnson. Duties for the newly created assistant director position will focus on the growth of the Osprey Club annual fund, serving a key role in major gifts and the planning and execution of the fundraising events.
