GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Redshirt-sophomore Joe Eillis continued a strong fall season with two more singles wins to move himself into the main singles draw after day one at the 2019 ITA Southeast Regionals on the campus of the University of Florida Oct. 24.
UNF picked up four singles wins Thursday, with senior
Federico Nani and freshman
PJ Kotan nabbing victories in qualifying consolation singles play.
Ellis advanced to the second round via a bye before downing Linus Bergevi of Stetson and Georgia Southern's Pascal Wagemaker, both in straight sets.

Joe Ellis today. He's been battling, grinding and staying positive through a tough past year and a half with injury. Never once has he complained and he just comes to work. For him to beat two good players, including Stetson's number one from last year, is a testament to what he's about. The other matches were very similar to our fall, with too much fluctuation in our energy and level, leading to the results we got today. Tomorrow is a big day as doubles main draw starts and Dom and Joe go in the singles main draw. I'm eager to see how we compete and fight tomorrow."
