Duarte Heads to Championship in Singles

ORLANDO -Â Sophomore Nilo Duarte highlighted day two for North Florida men's tennis as it continued competition at the Bedford Cup on Saturday.
Duarte downed Jose Plazas in the semifinals of Flight 2 to advance to the finals. He will face off with ASUN foe Feliksas Sakalauskas from FGCU in the championship on Sunday.
Classmate Joe Ellis competed in the semifinals as well but dropped a two-set decision to Sakalauskas. He will compete for third place on Sunday. Junior Charley Castaing picked up his first victory in Blue & Grey in the Flight 3 Consolation match.
After having to retire yesterday, senior Sahil Deshmukh bounced back for a 6-2, 6-4 win against Victor Castro of Bethune-Cookman.Â
In doubles play, Dominik Barton and Federico Nani picked up a win in the quarterfinals, 8-6, but then faced a tough opponent in Thomas Guy and Alverno Hernandez Horta (FAU). The Owls took the match, 8-4, in the semifinals.
